Understanding the Tomodachi Life Personality Chart
What Is the Tomodachi Life Personality Chart?
The Tomodachi Life personality chart is a 4×4 grid that assigns every Mii one of 16 personality types. Nintendo built it from four slider values — Movement, Speech, Energy, and Attitude — each from 1 to 8. When you create a Mii in Tomodachi Life or Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, the game adds those sliders together and drops your character into one cell of the chart.
How the Tomodachi Life Personality Chart Works
Movement and Speech add up to pick the column (Considerate, Reserved, Outgoing, or Ambitious), while Energy and Attitude pick the row. That gives 16 combinations, each with its own name, traits, and in-game effects. The Overall slider has no effect on personality — it only changes some cosmetic animations.
What Personality Changes in Gameplay
Where a Mii lands on the chart changes their idle animations, apartment style, Tomodachi Quest performance, and the clothing color palette they get in Living the Dream. Personality also affects compatibility — some types get along naturally, which shapes the friendships and relationships that form across your island.
Tomodachi Life Personality Chart: 3DS vs Switch
The chart itself is identical across both versions, but a lot of names changed. "Softie" became "Sweetie" and "Brainiac" became "Rogue" on Switch, for example. Reading the chart is simple in principle. Each column is a personality group, each row an energy level. Find where your Mii's Movement + Speech total crosses their Energy + Attitude total, and that cell is their type. The calculator above does the math for you — just put in your four slider values.
